2022小學英語語法：比較級的特殊表達法

　　一、表示方位的介詞

　　above,over,below,under,beneath,beyond,before,behind等可用來表達比較。 在表達比較概念時，這些介詞的含義通常是其基本意義的引申，即表示"在等 級、標準、地位、價值、品質、能力等方面優(yōu)于（超過）…或落后于（低于）…" 等。例如：

　　1.We love truth above everything else. 我們最愛真理。

　　2.She is rather behind the rest of her class in maths. 在數學方面， 她比班上的其他同學差些。

　　3.lts quality is beyond that of others. 它的質量比其他的質量好。

　　4.This method has an advantage over that one. 這種方法比那種方法好。

　　5. Children under two years old cannot be received intothe kindergarten. 兩歲以下的兒童不準進幼兒園。

　　6. He is beneath me in education. 他所受的教育不如我。

　　7. Work should come before pleasure. 工作應比娛樂重要。

　　8. He is next in rank below the mayor. 他的地位次于市長。

　　短語ahead of也可表示"優(yōu)于"、"勝過"。如：

　　9. He is far ahead of his class in English. 他的英語遠勝于班上的其他同學。

　　此外，介詞to 和beside有時也表示比較：

　　10. He is quite strong to what he used to be . 與過去的情況相比，他現(xiàn)在算很強壯了。

　　11. His contribution to the socialist construction is littleto yours. 他對社會主義建設所作的貢獻與你的相比，就顯得微不足道了。

　　二、以－or結尾的拉丁語比較級

　　superior,inferior,senior,junior,prior,major,minor及形容詞prefera ble 常與介詞to連用，表示比較。例如：

　　12. He felt superior in mathematics to John. 他覺得自己的數學比約翰強。

　　13. This is inferior to that in quantity. 論質量這個比不上那個。

　　14. He is ten years senior to me . 他比我年長十歲。

　　15. A dark suit is preferable to a light one for evening wear.晚上穿深色西裝比穿淺色西裝好。

　　短語prefer... to ...有時也表示比較：

　　16. l prefer tea to coffee.(＝l like tea better than coffee.)

　　三、一些表示程度高低的動詞，由于本身含有比較的成分，也可表示比較。這些動詞包括：

　　1)由表示長短等的形容詞派生出的相應動詞。如：

　　lengthen,shorten,enlarge,lessen,lower等。

　　2)表示強弱變化的動詞。如：exceed（超過），increase,reduce,decline （衰弱），diminish（減少）， abridge（刪節(jié)），maximize（使…增加到最高限 度），minimize（使…減小到最低限度)等。

　　3)表示程度相同的動詞equal。

　　17. We are going to enlarge the garden to grow more vegetable.(＝...to make the vegetable ga rden larger...) 我們準備將園子擴大以便多種蔬菜。

　　18. You can minimize the dangers of driving by taking care toobey all the rules of the road. (＝...lessen the dangers to thesmallest degree ...) 小心遵守所有的 道路規(guī)則就能把開車的危險減 少到最低限度。

　　19. Demand exceeds supply.(＝Demand is greater than supply.)供不應求。

　　20. The length of this boat equals the width of that boat. (＝This boat is as long as that boat in wide.) 這條船的長度等于那條船的寬度。

　　四、“形容詞（原級）＋for短語"表示比較：

　　21. He is tall for his age. (＝He is taller than normal.) 對他那樣的年紀來說，他是長得高的 。

　　22. lt is rather cold for April.（就四月份而言，這天氣是冷了點。） 五、"too＋形容詞／副詞（原級）"表示比較：

　　23. lt ’s too long.(＝lt’s longer than it should be.) 太長了。

　　24. He speaks too quickly. (＝He speaks more quickly than heshould.) 他說得太快了。

　　五、"數詞＋名詞＋形容詞（原級）"表示比較：

　　25. You are five minutes late.(late＝too late) 你晚了五分鐘。

　　26. His watch is ten minutes fast. 他的表快了十分鐘。

　　六、副詞enough, sufficiently和形容詞same, equal(ly),equivalent等表示"as...as"如：

　　27. He is strong enough for the job.(＝He is as strong as isnecessary for the job.) 他十分強 壯、能干這項工作。

　　28. lt is sufficiently clear.(＝lt is as clear as is necessary.) 夠清晰的了。

　　29. Tom and Jack are (of) the same age.(＝Tom is as old as Jack.) 湯姆和杰克同歲。

　　30. They can run both equally fast.（相當于One runs as fastas the other.） 他們倆跑得同樣快 。

　　七、最高級除了用as...as結構和比較級表達之外，下列結構也可表示最高級概念：

　　1)...never＋ ┌ so＋形容詞／副詞＋名詞 └ such(a)＋形容詞＋名詞

　　31. l have never seen such a large apple behore.（相當于This is the largest apple l’ve ever seen.） 我從來沒見過這么大的蘋果。

　　2)否定詞＋like，like表示比較。意思是：沒有…能比得上…"，"…也 不像…更能…"。

　　32.There is nothing like leather for shoes.(＝Nothing is so good as leather for shoes.) 沒有比皮革做鞋再好的了。

　　3)...the last＋名詞＋不定式／定語從句。

　　33. That’s the last thing l should expect him to do.(＝lt seems most improbable that he will do it.)那是他最不可能做的事。

　　八、在科技英語中，常用下列手段來代替"as...as"或"比較級＋than" 結構：

　　34. The grain output of last year in our province was 20％over that of 1990. 我們省去年的糧食產量比1990年增加20％。

　　35. The new machine can increase 3 times the payload asagainst 1988. 新機器的有效載荷比1988年增加了兩倍。

　　36. The earth is 49 times the size of the moon. 地球是月球大小的 49倍。

　　37. His income is double what it was five years ago. 他的收入是五前的一倍。

　　38. This year the output of their factory will increase by four times compared with 1978.今年 他們廠的產量比1978年的增加四倍。

　　最后，需要指出的是，上述表達比較的手段雖然在意義上相當于形容詞／副詞的比較結構，但它們在表達方式上是不同的。如介詞表示比較時，比比較結構更為靈活、簡潔、精練，而動詞等的比較含義則較含蓄、間接，不及比較結構顯露和強烈。這些差異規(guī)定了上述比較手段有其適用或不適用的范圍，不能完全等同于比較結構。
